On September 24th 2009, Station 51 was dispatched to Mounts Mills Rd. for smoke coming from a residence. Chief 57(J. Carbin) was first to arrive and confirm the working structure fire. Squad 51(A/O Shapter) Ladder 51(Lt. Steinhauser) and Central Monroe Engine 23-5(Lt. Volkmann) arrived simultaneously and worked to establish a water supply to Ladder 51. A/O Shapter and his crew of 3 and Central Monroe's Lt. Volkmann and his crew of 2 made entry into the house with a 2" handline and hooks. Lt. Steinhuaser and his crew of 3 coordinated with the interior attack for O.V. Applegarth Fire Dept. Tower 57(Lt. Volkmann) arrived and was made the R.I.T. The fire was placed under control in approximately 30 minutes. The fire is currently under investigation with the Monroe Township Fire Prevention District #1 and the Monroe Police.
