-
On Tuesday, April 6th The Monroe Township Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to 9 Patio Ct. for a car fire inside the garage. Chief Lonnie Pipero called in service about a minute after dispatch and was advised there was fire throughout the garage. Chief Pipero arrived on location and advised a 2 ½ story single-family house with heavy fire from the garage; he also advised he had live ammunition going off in the garage. Captain Anthony Costa arrived on location and assumed operations. 23-5 arrived on location and established a water supply at the end of the street, and stretched a 2 ½” handline to attack the fire. Jamesburg’s Engine arrived next and established another water supply on Bordentown Tpk. Squad 51-2(Lt. Steinhauser) arrived and was directed to pull a 2 ½” CAFS line to the alpha delta corner where the garage was located. Upon the CAFS line being ready for use all other handlines were ordered to stop flowing so the foam could be applied properly. Ladder 51 (Lt. Hayes), Rescue 51 (2nd Lt. Zdrodowski) arrived and checked for extension in the residence and provided ventilation. Tower 57 and Engine 23-7 arrived and formed a manpower pool across the street from the house. Spotswood Engine 71-1 was dispatched and assigned to RIT. Every firefighter on scene should be commended on a great stop by containing the fire to the garage and not allowing it to reach the inside of the house. All together units remained on location for approximately 5 hours while the investigation was conducted. There is no known cause of the fire as it is under investigation by the Fire Prevention Bureau of Dist. 1.
